Things to do during the Holiday – Children’s Edition
Wondering what to do this holiday season? Here are 10 productive things you can do to fill your days:
- Reflecting on the term and year gone
Take out a sheet of paper and answer these three questions:
- What did I do well in the past term?
- What did I do well in the past term?
- What will I do differently in the coming term?
- Setting process goals for the coming term
As a follow-up to point number 1.
You should set process goals for the coming term instead of performance goals, this is because process goals are far more effective.
What’s the difference between the two types of goals?
Process goals are what you intend to do, while performance goals are what you intend to achieve.
An example:
Performance goal: I will get an A for math next semester.
Process goal: I will do three extra math questions every day after dinner.

The holiday is quite long, if it hasn’t happened already, at some point, you will probably feel bored. That will be the time to pick up a new hobby like…
- Photography
- Gardening
- Playing an instrument
- Dancing
- Juggling
- Improve your writing skills.
Writing skills are important for your academic success, and they’re even more important for career success. You should therefore work on your writing skills this school holiday.
- Declutter
Give away books and notes you no longer need, and files you no longer use. In addition, clear your desk and get organized. This way, you’ll set yourself up for a fruitful upcoming semester.
- Develop Healthy Habits
Nathaniel Emmons once said, “Habit is either the best of servants or the worst of masters.”Some possible habits to develop during this school holiday:
- Daily reflection
- Reading for 15 minutes before bed
- Keeping a gratitude journal
- Getting on a regular sleep schedule
